Mr. Rudy Roy, Chairman, Co-founder
To complement his rigorous training in business and mechanical engineering at Caltech, Rudy Roy has studied the developing world with leading experts and participated in several entrepreneurial and philanthropic initiatives. Previously, Rudy has served in roles ranging from Research Fellow at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory to Senior Lab Teaching Assistant at Caltech's Mechanical Engineering Department, to a Consultant on markets for clean and renewable energy for Blue Run Ventures, an early stage high tech venture capital fund with over $1Billion under management. At Blue Run, Rudy was involved in corporate valuations of start up companies, working with the firm's partners to evaluate hundreds of business plans. He is currently responsible for authoring the multi-billion dollar proposals for eSolar, a solar power plant company making solar energy competitive with fossil fuels. He spent his last year at Caltech applying his engineering knowledge and experience with startups from the VC industry, founding IMI through his work towards a senior thesis. His vision as the founding President and current Chairman of IMI builds on the momentum he generated as leader of the team that won Caltech's Product Design for the Developing World Contest and the OCTANe Foundation for Innovation's Social Impact Award. Rudy earned a B.S in Mechanical Engineering at Caltech.
