The Transitions Foundation operates its Guatemalan NGO, Transiciones, in Antigua, Guatemala. This non profit foundation has an array of programs to help youth with disabilities in Guatemala. Among the many services they offer are education, scholarships, job training, medical services, and medical devices.

IMI Guatemala deeply values the talent, creativity, and experience of local designers in the country, and found the partnership with Trancisiones was a natural fit. Transciones brings more than 15 years of experience building and distributing wheelchairs and other mobility devices for their community in Guatemala. Now, both non-profits have joined together to develop new wheelchair designs that will respond to the needs of the country’s people with disabilities.

This partnership was built on the premise “To help individuals with disabilities in Guatemala".

IMI Guatemala has also formed an ongoing partnership with the INDIS program at Rafael Landivar University. IMI Guatemala provides interested industrial designers from INDIS with opportunities for new design projects and theses.
